Paris Attack | An overview on terrorism in France since 2015

On May 12, 1 person was killed and 4 others were injured after a suspect armed with a knife attacked bystanders in Rue Monsigny in Paris’ 2nd district, in the proximity of the Opera House. The suspect was shot and killed by the police. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

The suspect, identified as Khamzat Azimov, was born in 1997 in Chechnya and naturalised French in 2010. He was know to the French intelligence service as a radical islamist and he was included in the Fiche S (meaning a serious threat to national security).
