On January 14, at least 2 soldiers were killed, 7 were wounded, and 43 were arrested following clashes between security forces and former National Intelligence and Security Service members in Kafouri, Khartoum.
The incident happened at the Directorate of General Intelligence Service (formerly known as the National Intelligence and Security Services) as former employees rebelled against a new retirement plan. This is the most violent confrontation between new and old security personnel in Sudan since Omar al-Bashir was toppled in April 2019.
