On November 7, the 2nd round of the peace talks between the Tigrayan and the Ethiopian federal government representatives will begin in Nairobi. The talks have been brokered by the African Union.

 

Guinea | FFSG calls for a nationwide shutdown on November 10 and a protest march on November 17 against the high cost of living and CNRD
On November 10, the Forum of Social Forces of Guinea (FFSG) called for a nationwide shutdown as part of protest actions against the high cost of living, violation of human rights, and the junta-led National Committee of Reconciliation and Development (CNRD). FFSG is also planning to hold protest marches on November 17.

 

South Africa | Water supply to be disrupted in Johannesburg, Gauteng on November 8 and 10
On November 8 and 10, the water supply will be disrupted in some districts of Johannesburg, Gauteng.

– On November 8, water disruption in specific areas in Midrand from 9 am to 4 pm local time
– On November 8, water disruption in specific areas in Soweto from 8 am to 5 pm local time
– On November 10, water disruption in specific areas in Sandton from 8 am to 5 pm local time

South Sudan | University of Bahr el Ghazal staff threaten to strike over salary adjustments in Wau on November 9
On November 9, a strike is planned by the staff of the University of Bahr el Ghazal in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal. It was not stated how long the strike may last. The staff have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the national government to implement salary structure adjustments to meet the current inflation rate, or they go on strike.

 

Sudan | Anti-coup protests to be staged nationwide
On November 7, 10, 13, 17, 21, 25 and 30, the Resistance Committees announced that anti-coup protests will be staged nationwide. It has not been revealed what the route of the processions will be or what time they will last.

Brazil | Direct flight between Navegantes International Airport (NVT) and Cuiabá International Airport (CGB)
From November 10, there will be a direct flight line created between Navegantes International Airport (NVT) and Cuiabá International Airport (CGB).

 

Canada | Labour unions planning to hold mass demonstration in Toronto on November 12 and province-wide strike in Ontario on November 14
On November 12, multiple labour unions are planning to hold a mass demonstration at Queen’s Park in Toronto, Ontario. The unions are planning to hold a province-wide multi-sector strike in Ontario on November 14. The protest and strike action is being planned to demand the government to repeal Bill 28 which imposes a contract on CUPE’s 55,000 education-support workers.

 

Canada | GO Transit bus workers to take strike action in Ontario on November 7
On November 7, GO Transit bus workers will take strike action in Ontario on November 7. Due to the strike action, there will be no bus service but trains will run as scheduled. Negotiations regarding the strike are ongoing between the workers and the employer.

 

Colombia – Venezuela | Direct flight services to resume between Bogota and Caracas on November 7
On November 7, direct flight services will resume between Bogota and Caracas. According to an announcement made by the Colombian ambassador to Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, the flights will be operated by the Colombian airline, Satena and the Venezuelan airline, Turpial.

 

Peru | Frente de Defensa de los Intereses de Espinar to hold an indefinite protest, on November 7
On November 7, Frente de Defensa de los Intereses de Espinar will hold an indefinite protest in Espinar province. The decision was made after villagers accused the Antapaccay mining company of allegedly not complying with agreements. Also contaminating their rivers and water sources.

 

Peru – United Kingdom | UK allows visa-free entry for Peruvian nationals for visits of less than 6 months from November 9
From November 9, Peruvians who wish to visit the United Kingdom for periods of less than 6 months will be able to do so without the need to apply for a visa. This includes travel for tourism, short studies, international events, business, family gatherings, and medical care.

 

Uruguay | Private education workers to go on strike on November 10
On November 10, private education workers will go on a 24-hour nationwide strike. The strike action will cover all institutions in the education sector such as schools, CAIF, and technical education institutes, among others.

Australia | Extinction Rebellion activists to hold a protest in Ballarat, Victoria, on November 9
On November 9, Extinction Rebellion activists plan to hold a protest in Ballarat, Victoria. The protest will be held outside the National Australia Bank branch on 1001 Stuart Street from 3pm to 4pm local time.

 

Bangladesh | Tourist travel ban extended in four Upazilas of Bandarban, Chittagong
From November 4 to 8, the District Magistrate announced that the tourist travel ban will be extended in the 4 Upazilas of Bandarban, Chittagong. The travel ban has been extended in Rowanchari, Ruma, Thanchi, and Alikadam. The ban is because security forces have been conducting coordinated anti-militancy operations in the area.

 

Cambodia | 40th and 41st ASEAN Summit to be held on November 10-13 in Phnom Penh
On November 10-13, the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summit and other related summits will be held in Phnom Penh. Meanwhile, the Cambodian government has announced that all public and private educational institutions will be closed from November 10 to 12 in order to reduce traffic congestion and to facilitate VIP movement in the city during the course of the summit.

 

Cambodia – United States | President Biden to visit Cambodia on November 12-13
On November 12-13, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, will visit Cambodia to participate in the annual US-ASEAN Summit and East Asia Summit. The visit will reaffirm the United States enduring commitment to Southeast Asia and ASEAN.

 

China | Military exercise to held in the Bohai Strait from November 6 to 13
From November 6 to 13, a military exercise is scheduled to take place in the Bohai Strait, the northern part of the Yellow Sea. The military exercise will take place from November 6 at 04.00 pm to November 13 at 04.00 pm local time.

On November 6 and 7, a military exercise is scheduled to take place in the Bohai Sea. The military exercise will take place from 07.30 am to 03.30 pm local time daily.

 

China | COVID-19 risk area adjustments issued in Liling, Hunan, November 5-8
From November 5-8, COVID-19 risk area adjustments have been issued in Liling, Hunan. All business venues in the city will be closed to the public. A curfew is in place from 8 pm onwards daily. Passenger transport such as taxis and buses are suspended.

 

China | Authorities impose 7-day COVID-19 lockdown in area around Foxconn’s main plant in Zhengzhou, Henan
From November 2 to 9, the local authorities have imposed a 7-day COVID-19 lockdown in the area around Foxconn Technology Group’s main plant in Zhengzhou, Henan. The lockdown came into force at 12 pm local time at the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone.

 

China | Military exercise to be held in Hong Kong from November 1 to 30
From November 1 to 30, a military exercise is scheduled to take place in Da Ling Range and Tsing Shan Range, Hong Kong. The drill will take place from November 1 to 30 (except for November 6) daily from 08.00 am to 09.00 pm local time.

 

China | Military exercise to be held in the Bohai Sea from October 29 to November 27
From October 29 to November 27, a Chinese military exercise is scheduled to take place in the Bohai Sea.

Between October 26 and November 12, the Indian Air Force and French Air and Space Force will conduct a joint military exercise in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The joint exercise will take place at Air Force Station Jodhpur (JDH).

 

India | Fisherfolk to stage statewide protest, on November 11, in Tamil Nadu
On November 11, fisherfolk will stage a statewide protest in Tamil Nadu. The protest is being organised to condemn the October 21 incident where an Indian Navy patrol opened fire on a fishing boat.

 

India | Brickmakers to protest and march in New Delhi on November 10
On November 10, brickmakers plan to protest in New Delhi. The protest will be held in Ramlila Maidan and the protestors will march to the Parliament building. The protest is against the cost of coal, the increase in GST rates, and other issues. No timing or route of the protest is specified.

 

India | Private Water Tanker Lorry Owners’ Association announce strike in Tamil Nadu from November 7
From November 7, Tamil Nadu’s Private Water Tanker Lorry Owners’ Association has announced an indefinite strike.

 

India | Yellow alert in 5 Kerala districts for November 6-10
From November 6 to 10, a yellow alert in 5 Kerala districts. The 5 districts are Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernak, and Idukki.

 

India | Police issue prohibitory orders due to potential law and order disturbances in Mumbai from November 1-15
From November 1-15, Police will issue prohibitory orders due to potential law and order disturbances in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Under the orders, no more than 5 persons can gather at a place, no processions are allowed, the bursting of fireworks, use of loudspeakers and music bands in a procession is not allowed. Wedding ceremonies and funerals are exempted.

 

Indonesia – United States | US President to visit Indonesia from November 13 to 16
From November 13 to 16, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, will visit Indonesia for the G20 Leaders’ Summit.

 

Japan – United States | US-Japan joint military exercise to held at Nyutabaru Air Base in Shintomi-cho, Miyazaki from November 8 to 18
From November 8 to 18, US-Japan military exercise is scheduled to take place at Nyutabaru Air Base in Shintomi-cho, Miyazaki. Approximately 110 Marines and about 10 FA-18 fighter jets from the U.S. Iwakuni Air Base in Yamaguchi Prefecture are expected to participate. This will be the first time in two years that Japan and the United States hold joint training at Nyutabaru Air Base.

 

Malaysia | MetMalaysia issues early monsoon warning throughout the country
From November 7, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) warned that the monsoon season will affect the country. Heavy rainfall and winds are expected to affect the country starting November 7 until March 2023. Low-lying areas, areas close to rivers, and high-tide-prone seaside areas are announced as being at the highest risk of floods. The public is advised to begin flood preparations immediately and to constantly follow advice and weather forecast from MetMalaysia.

 

Pakistan | Gas supply to be suspended, on November 8, in parts of Gujranwala, Punjab
On November 8, the gas supply will be suspended in parts of Gujranwala, Punjab. According to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the gas supply will be suspended, from 8 am to 4 pm local time, in Jandiala Baghwala, Piru Chak, Talwandi Musa Khan, and Bhatti Bhango among other areas.

 

Pakistan | PTI party to resume long march from Wazirabad, Punjab on November 8
On November 8, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party will resume its long march from Wazirabad, Punjab. The march will reportedly resume from the same spot where several people, including Imran Khan, were shot on November 3.

 

Philippines | Road closures due to Bar exams to take place in Manila starting on November 9
On November 9, 13, 16, and 20, several streets and roads in Manila will be closed off due to national Bar exams that will be held at San Beda University and De La Salle University. The affected roads will be closed from 12 am to 11 pm. The following streets will be closed near San Beda University:

– Mendiola Street
-Concepcion Aguila Street — only accessible to authorized vehicles (residents within the area only)
– 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Street

These streets will also be closed near De La Salle University:

– Taft Avenue Northbound
– Taft Avenue Southbound”

 

Philippines | Water service interruption in parts of Antipolo City, Rizal on November 8-9
From November 8 to November 9, a water service interruption will take place to repair pipe leaks in Antipolo City, Rizal. Depending on the locality, residents will have their water supply cut off starting from November 7 at 9 pm, until November 9 at 6 am.

 

Philippines – Saudi Arabia | Ban prohibiting Filipino citizens to travel to Saudi Arabia for working purposes to be lifted from November 7
From November 7, the Philippines will lift the current ban prohibiting national citizens to travel to Saudi Arabia for working purposes. The decision followed talks held between the Philippine Ministry of Migrant Labor and the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

 

South Korea | KCTU to stage a protest in Seoul on November 12
On November 12, the National Federation of Trade Unions (KCTU) will stage a protest in Seoul. The protest is being organised against the government’s labour reform and to demand punishment for those responsible for the Itaewon disaster.

 

South Korea | Kosin University Hospital labour union to go on an indefinite strike in Busan from November 10
From November 10, Kosin University Hospital labor union will go on an indefinite strike in Busan. 1,400 union members of Kosin University Hospital branch of the National Health and Medical Industry Union are expected to take part in the strike. The reason for the strike is related to implementing the collective agreement.

 

South Korea | Taegeuk military exercise to be held from November 7 to 11
From November 7 to 11, the annual computer-simulated Taegeuk military exercise will take place in South Korea. The exercise will focus on strengthening crisis management capabilities and training operational capabilities against various threats, including those from North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs.

 

Sri Lanka – Switzerland | Swiss International Airlines to resume direct flights to Sri Lanka from November 10
From November 10, Swiss International Airlines will conduct direct flights to Colombo. SIA will fly from Zurich Airport (ZRH) into Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) from November until May 2023.

 

Taiwan | COVID-19 quarantine measures to be eased from November 7
From November 7, COVID-19 quarantine measures will be eased in Taiwan. COVID cases who test negative on the last day of their quarantine can avoid undergoing self-health monitoring according to the “7+0” scheme.

Albania | Anti-government protest to be held on November 12
On November 12, an anti-government protest will be held in Albania. The protest is being staged by the opposition parties due to dissatisfaction with the government led by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

 

Austria – Slovakia | Austria extends temporary border controls with Slovakia until November 12
On October 28, it was announced that Austria will extend temporary border controls with Slovakia until November 12. The decision was made following a decrease in illegal immigration to Czechia due to the re-establishment of border checkpoints. Austrian authorities have detained 12 smugglers so far during checks on the border with Slovakia.

 

Belgium | Extinction Rebellion to protest in front of Dutch Embassy in Brussels on November 10
On November 10, Extinction Rebellion will hold a protest in front of the Dutch Embassy in Brussels. ER claims the action is intended to oppose the repression suffered by activists practicing civil disobedience and to denounce the punishments against climate activists, following the Netherlands’ condemnation of activists who glued themselves to a Vermeer painting.

 

Belgium | 40% of the flights at Brussels Airport (BRU) to be cancelled due to nationwide strike on November 9
On November 9, 40% of the flights at Brussels Airport (BRU) will be cancelled due to a nationwide strike. The strike will be staged against the rising energy bills and for tax justice.

 

Belgium | National interprofessional strike to be held on November 9
On November 9, a national interprofessional strike will be held. The strike is staged to protest against the rising energy bills and for tax justice.

Update:
– SNCB expects disruptions;
– STIB public transportation network affected. Advises travelers to plan alternative solutions to public transport to get around Brussels;
– Flights are preventively canceled at Brussels Airport (BRU). About 40% of flights are canceled and travelers are advised to bring hand luggage only;
– Flight disruptions at Charleroi Airport (CRL). Access to airport infrastructure is likely to be complicated and some flights will probably be rescheduled. Passengers must show up at least 3 hours in advance and bring hand luggage only;
– Blocked supermarkets and large shopping centers. Carrefour, Delhaize, and Lidl should be generally inaccessible, and Grands Prés (in Mons), the Médiacité (in Liège), the Left Bank (in Charleroi) should be blocked;

Bosnia and Herzegovina | Military exercise “Quick Response 22” to be conducted from October 17 to November 20
From October 17 to November 20, the European peacekeeping force to Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR) will conduct the military exercise “Quick Response 22”. The purpose of the exercise is to demonstrate EUFOR’s capability and determination to contribute to a safe and secure environment through increased patrolling and tactical exercises in selected urban and rural areas. 20 countries are expected to participate in the training.

 

Croatia | Trade unionists to stage protests nationwide on November 8 and 15
On November 8 and 15, trade unionists will stage protests nationwide. The demonstrations are being staged demanding that base wages be increased for government employees. Protests will be held on November 8 nationwide in front of public services institutions and on November 15 a large joint protest will be organised in Zagreb.

 

France | Railway and subway workers to strike in Paris, Ile-de-France on November 10-11
On November 10-11, railway and subway workers will strike in Paris, Ile-de-France. The strike was organised by tha RATP trade union. The strike will start on November 9 at 10:00 pm and will end on November 10 at 7:00 am local time.

 

France | March in memory of a murder victim to be held in Alès, Occitania on November 7
On November 7, a march will be held in Alès, Occitania. The march will be staged in memory of a murder victim. The march will take place on Rue Sully-Prudhomme at 2 pm local time.

 

France | Keolis workers strike to be held in 3 departments of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes on November 7
On November 7, a strike will be held in 3 departments of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The strike will be staged by Keolis workers for better working conditions. Planche buses, which provide school transportation, will be affected.

 

France – Germany – Switzerland | Maintenance workers and air traffic controllers go on strike at EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (MLH, BSL, EAP) on November 8
On November 8, a strike will be held at EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (MLH, BSL, EAP). The strike will be staged by maintenance workers and air traffic controllers supported by Unsa and Usac-CGT unions against restructuring the technical maintenance service in the flight control centre. Air traffic will be affected.

 

Germany | Demonstration to be held in Lützerath, North Rhine-Westphalia on November 12
On November 12, a demonstration will be held in Lützerath, North Rhine-Westphalia. The demonstration will be staged against fossil fuels and climate change at 12 noon local time.

 

Germany | Fridays for Future demonstration to be held in Munich, Bavaria on November 11
On November 11, a demonstration will be held in Munich, Bavaria. The demonstration will be staged by Fridays for Future in support of a climate policy. The demonstration will take place at Königsplatz at 12 pm local time.

 

Germany | 3 demonstrations in commemoration of Nigerian Ogoni 9 climate activists to be held on November 10
On November 10, 3 demonstrations in commemoration of Nigerian Ogoni 9 climate activists will be held in Germany:

– In Hamburg, a demonstration will take place at Moorweide-Bahnhof Dammtor at 4 pm local time.
– In Cologne, a demonstration will take place at Albertus-Magnus-Platz at 3:30 pm local time.
– In Berlin, a demonstration will take place on Skalitzerstrasse 48 at 6 pm local time.

 

Greece | General Confederation of Workers of Greece (GSEE) to hold nationwide strike on November 9
On November 9, the General Confederation of Workers of Greece (GSEE) will hold a nationwide strike to protest against soaring energy costs and rising prices. Protests are also expected to be held in Athens and other cities.

 

Ireland | Cost of living protests to take place nationwide on November 12
On November 12, a cost of living ‘day of action’ will take place across Ireland. Various protests will be held nationwide. Protests have been confirmed at the following locations, local time:
– Dublin: St Catherine’s Church, Thomas Street, Dublin 8, at 2 pm
– Galway: Galway Town Hall on Courthouse Square at 2 pm
– Limerick: City Hall at 2 pm

More are expected to be announced. The day of action has been organized by the Cost of Living Coalition.

From November 7 to 11, a weather warning has been issued as spells of rainfall and localised flooding have been forecast in Waterford. According to Met Eireann, the moderate advisory warning will remain in place from 4 am (local time) on November 7 until 11 pm on November 11.

 

Italy | Trenitalia workers to take 8-hour strike action across Emilia Romagna, November 13
On November 13, Trenitalia workers will take 8-hour strike action across Emilia Romagna. The strike by the by the Trenitalia Csvd DB AV and DB IC personnel will take place from 9 am to 5 pm local time.

 

Italy | Unionized transport workers to take 24-hour strike action in Pavia, Lombardy, on November 11
On November 11, unionized transport workers will take 24-hour strike action in Pavia, Lombardy. The strike is organized by the OO.SS. Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl and Faisa-Cisal unions. The strike will departures during the following time slots:

from the start of the service at 5:29 am local time
from 8:30 am to 2:59 pm
from 6:00 pm to the end of the service

 

Italy | National public transport strike to be held on November 11
On November 11, a national public transport strike will be held. The strike was organised by USB Lavoro Privato. The action will last for 4 hours.

 

Italy | GKN workers protest reported in Campi Bisenzio, Tuscany
On November 7, a protest was reported in Campi Bisenzio, Tuscany. The protest was staged by GKN workers against demobilization and possible damage to corporate and industrial assets. The protest took place in front of the former GKN plant at 8 am local time.

 

Italy | Trenitalia staff to take 24-hour strike action in Calabria, November 7-8
On November 7-8, Trenitalia railway staff will take 24-hour strike action in Calabria. The strike will begin at 9 pm local time on November 7 and end at 9 pm on November 8.

 

Italy | Demonstration against the increase in energy prices and bills to be held in Palermo, Sicily on November 7
On November 7, a demonstration will be held in Palermo, Sicily. The demonstration will take place at Piazza Croci at 10 am local time. The demonstration will be staged by Confcommercio, Cna, Confartigianato, Confindustria, Cidec, Confesercenti, Claai, Uil, Cgil, Casartigiani, and Confagricoltura against the increase in energy prices and bills.

 

Netherlands | NS trains to Amsterdam-Zuid halted between November 13-27
From November 13-27, NS trains to Amsterdam-Zuid will be halted due to maintenance work on the tracks. Alternative routes can be accessed via the GVB metro.

 

Poland | Protest over low wages to be held in Warsaw, on November 9
On November 9, a protest will be held in Warsaw. The protest is being staged by the police forces, firefighting services, customs officers, and prison officers over low wages. The demonstration will be organized in front of the chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland.

 

Poland | Power outages to occur in Wieliszew and Nieporet, Masovian Voivodeship on November 7-8
On November 7-8, power outages are expected to occur in the Wieliszew and Nieporet communes, Masovian Voivodeship. On November 7, outages will occur from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm. On November 8, outages will occur from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. The outages are due to maintenance work on the network.

 

Portugal | Pharmacists go on nationwide strike on October 25 and 26 and on November 15 and 16
On October 25 and 26 and on November 15 and 16, a strike will be held nationwide. The strike will be staged by pharmacists supported by Sindicato Nacional dos Farmacêuticos for the revision and updating of pay scales and full counting of service time in the National Health Service (SNS) for career advancement.

 

Russia | Yellow level of terrorist threat extended in Bryansk for 15 days starting November 5
On November 5, a yellow level of the terrorist threat has been extended in Bryansk for 15 days.  The alert was first issued on April 11.

 

Slovenia | No candidate wins majority of votes in presidential election, Anze Logar and Natasa Pirc Musar to contest 2nd round on November 13
On October 23, no candidate won a majority (50 per cent or more) of votes in the presidential election. Anže Logar received the most votes with 33.96 per cent of the votes, followed by Natasa Pirc Musar with 26.87 per cent. Anze Logar and Natasa Pirc Musar will contest the 2nd round runoff on November 13.

 

Spain | Amnesty International demonstration to be held in Huesca, Aragona on November 8
On November 8, a demonstration will be held in Huesca, Aragona. The demonstration will be staged by Amnesty International to demand a reform of the Mordaza law that affects the right to protest. The demonstration will take place at Plaza Zaragoza at 7 pm local time.

 

Spain | Amnesty International demonstration to be held in Madrid on November 8
On November 8, a demonstration will take place in Madrid. The demonstration will be staged by Amnesty International Spain to demand a reform of the Citizen Security Law that guarantees the right to protest. The demonstration will take place in front of the Congress of Deputies and will last 12 hours.

 

Spain | Tubacex demonstration to be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country on November 7
On November 7, a demonstration will be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country. The demonstration will be staged by Tubacex company supported by the ESK Sindikatua union against the wrongful conviction of an employee. The demonstration will take place at Avenida Gasteiz 18 at 10:30 am local time.

 

Spain | Renfe railway workers strike to be held nationwide on November 7 and 11
On November 7 and 11, a strike will be held nationwide. The strike will be staged by Renfe railway workers supported by CGT because agreements that led to the cancellation of the strike are insufficient to truly improve working conditions.

 

Switzerland | Construction workers to go on strike in several areas on November 11
On November 11, a strike will be held in Canton Zurich, Bern, and eastern Switzerland, central Switzerland. The strike will be staged by construction workers supported by the Unia union for better working conditions and wage increases.

On October 7, construction sector workers will take to the streets of Geneva, causing major traffic disruptions. The demonstration will occur amid the 2-day strikes of the Masons, on November 7-8, opposing the new model of work wanted by the Swiss Society of Entrepreneurs (SSE). The Geneva Public Transport expects major disruptions from 06:30 am local time on the entirety of the network. TPG service serving the city center will be reduced during the day and certain routes will be diverted or even canceled depending on the progress of the procession. From November 1 to December 31, Turkish Airlines will introduce new weekly flights connecting Doha International Airport (DIA) to Istanbul Airport (IST). The number of flights will increase from 12 to 42. The airline’s decision was motivated by the will to favour travels to Doha for the 2022 FIFA World Cup that is taking place from November 20 to December 18.
