Hozint – Horizon Intelligence, on behalf of the Analyst consortium, successfully hosted the conference “The Intelligence Analyst’s Role in a Complex Security Landscape” on 28 November. The event brought together practitioners, academics and private-sector experts to explore how intelligence analysis supports operational decision-making in an increasingly complex and interconnected security environment.
The conference featured two in-depth panel discussions:

Panel 1: The Intelligence Analyst in Operational Security
The first panel shed light on the role of intelligence analysts in customs security, executive protection and aviation security. Speakers highlighted how timely, accurate and actionable intelligence enables security teams to anticipate threats, protect assets and people, and comply with evolving regulatory frameworks. The discussion underlined the importance of combining open-source information, field reporting and advanced analytical tools to support both strategic and real-time decisions.

Panel 2: Education and Training in Intelligence in Europe
The second panel focused on the current state of the art in intelligence education and training across Europe. Panellists discussed existing programmes, skill gaps, and emerging needs for upskilling and reskilling intelligence professionals. Special attention was given to multidisciplinary curricula, practical training methodologies, and the integration of new technologies such as AI into analytical workflows and training environments.
