Nigeria | 45 civilians kidnapped by armed assailants in Munya, Niger

On March 27, 45 civilians were kidnapped by armed assailants in Munya, Niger state. The incident occurred in the evening local time on Sarkin Pawa-Gwada Road. Among the abductees is the Catholic Parish Priest of St Mary’s Catholic Church, Sarkin Pawa. According to local sources, bandits have been operating freely on the Sarkin Pawa-Gwada Road since Saturday, Mar 26th.

 

Recent incidents in the same area

 

    • On March 9 – 11, 8 coordinated terrorist attacks were executed in Munya, Niger. The villages attacked were Liwi, Paidna, Tsohon Kabula, Chibani, Fuka, Kuchi, Dandaudu and Mararraban Dandaudu. Many are reported dead and injured.

 

    • On March 7, 3 people were killed, many others were kidnapped following an attack by suspected militants in Munya, Niger. The incident took place in the evening in Anguwan-Toma.

 

    • On March 6 – 8, 65 people were killed and many abducted in armed attacks in Rijau, Niger and Sakaba, Kebbi. The 5 killings took place in the villages of Tungan Magajiya and Paikpa in Niger, 60 – at about 9 pm local time in Sakaba, Kebbi. The attack was executed in an ambush.

 

  • On February 5 and 6, at least 44 people were killed and over 31 were kidnapped following simultaneous attacks in Shiroro and Munya, Niger State. The incidents occurred in the villages of Galadinma Kolgo, Erena, Chukuba, and Allawa, in Shiroro LGA, and in the villages of Guni, Daza, and Zagzaga, in Munya LGA. This comes after recent similar large attacks against communities in the state of Niger.
