From October 3 to 14, members of the Coordination of Education Unions will go on strike in Bamako. The strike will take place from October 3 to 5, and then from October 10 to 14.

Nigeria – United States | Delta Airlines to suspend flights between New York (JFK) and Lagos (LOS) from October 4
From October 4, Delta Airlines will suspend flights between New York (JFK) and Lagos (LOS). The route suspension is due to “the current demand environment”.

From October 8 to 20, the gas supply will be disrupted in parts of Cundinamarca, Meta, and San Jos del Guaviare city. The disruption will be caused due to maintenance work at an Ecopetrol gas pipeline.

From October 6, Wingo will launch flights between Panama City (BLB) and Santo Domingo (SDQ). Flights to Santo Domingo will operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

Paraguay | PY-18 route between San Juan Nepomuneco and Cruce Kimex to be inaugurated on October 5
On October 5, the PY-18 route between San Juan Nepomuneco and Cruce Kimex will be inaugurated in Itapúa-Caazapa. The 80 kilometer highway corridor will have a very important social and economic impact on the region.

On October 3, a vehicular diversion plan will begin at the intersection of 28 de Julio and Aviación in Lima. Vehicles going towards the Callao should use Avenidas Riva Agüero, Nicolás Ayllón and Grau as an alternative. The vehicular restriction is due to the construction of the 28 de Julio station of Line 2 of the Lima Metro.

On September 29, the US Embassy issued a demonstration alert due to potential incidents during regional elections, from October 2 to 4. The alert states that during election day, October 2, and the days following protests may erupt across the country, which may turn violent at any time and can cause traffic disruptions.

United States | Citizens to rally demanding abortion rights and reproductive justice in Kennebec County, Maine, on October 8
On October 8, a rally has been organized by citizens to demand abortion rights and reproductive justice on October 8 in Kennebec County, Maine. The rally has been scheduled from 1:30-3:30 pm local time near the Unitarian Universalist Church on 69 Spring street.

United States | Ozone Action Day alert issued for October 3 in San Antonio, Texas
On October 3, an Ozone Action Day alert has been issued in San Antonio, Texas. The alert was issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the alert indicates that the atmospheric conditions on the day are “expected to be favourable for producing high levels of ozone air pollution in the San Antonio area”. Children, the elderly, and people with respiratory issues are advised to limit spending time outdoors.

From October 5, monkeypox vaccination will start for high-risk groups in Hong Kong. About 120,000 people are expected to receive a vaccine, such as healthcare workers, laboratory personnel and people with “high-risk sexual practices” such as sex workers.

China | Military exercise to be held in the waters of Bohai Strait, Yellow Sea
From October 2 to 16, a Chinese military exercise is scheduled to take place in the waters of Bohai Strait, Yellow Sea from 04.00 pm to 04.00 pm local time.

Japan – United States | US-Japan joint military exercise to be held in Hokkaido from October 1 to 14
From October 1 to 14, a US-Japan joint military exercise “Resolute Dragon” is scheduled to take place in Hokkaido. The training will be held at Kamifurano, Shikaribetsu, Yausubetsu practice areas, Shizunai anti-aircraft firing range, JASDF Kekinebetsu off-field airfield, Sapporo airfield, and Tokachi airfield

Maldives – United Arab Emirates | Wizz Air to commence flights between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Valena Airport (VIA) from October 4
From October 4, Wizz Air will commence flights between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Valena Airport (VIA). Flights will be operated 3 times a week.

Sri Lanka – Russia | Aeroflot to resume regular flights to Colombo (CMB) from October 9
From October 9, Aeroflot will resume regular flights to Colombo (CMB). Flights will initially operate twice a week.

South Korea | Large-scale rally to be held in Seoul on October 3

On October 3, a large-scale rally is scheduled to take place in Seoul. Freedom Unification Party, led by Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon, will hold a large-scale rally at the Sejong-daero intersection on the occasion of National Foundation Day. Traffic congestion is expected at major intersections in the downtown area, such as Sejong-daero Intersection and Sungnyemun Roundabout.

Taiwan – Germany | German parliamentary delegation to visit Taiwan from October 2 to 6

From October 2 to 6, the German parliamentary delegation, led by Chairman Klaus-Peter Willsch, is scheduled to visit Taiwan. This will be the first parliamentary delegation from Germany to visit Taiwan since 2019. The delegation will meet President Tsai Ing-wen and Vice President Lai Ching-te and will hold meetings with local security think tanks.

On October 4-5, a 24-hour strike will be held nationwide. The strike will begin at 10 pm on September 4 and end at 10 pm local time on September 5. The strike will be staged by rail workers supported by CGSP Cheminots, CSC Transcom, and SLFP Cheminots to demand more resources for the railways to carry out recruitment. The strike was originally planned for October 18 but was brought forward.

Belgium | Metro line disruptions due to maintenance work to be expected in Brussels from October 1 to 3
From October 1 to 3, metro line disruptions will be expected in Brussels. Due to maintenance work between Veeweyde and Bizet stations on Metro Line 5, traffic will be disrupted between Saint-Guidon and Erasme stations from October 1 at 4:30 am to October 3 at 1:30 am.

France | Climate conference planned in Lille, Hauts-de-France for October 5-9
From October 5 to 9, Stay Grounded Net will be holding an action conference in Lille, Hauts-de-France. The purpose of the conference is to “build global alliances and discuss strategies against the aviation industry.

Germany | Climate activist to stage protest in Frankfurt, Hesse on October 8
On October 8, a protest will be held in Frankfurt, Hesse. The protest will be staged by Ende Gelände, Wald statt Asphalt Bündnis, KoalaKollektiv, and Fecher Bleibt! against the construction of the A66 highway. The protest will take place in Eissporthalle U7 metro station at 2 pm local time.

Germany – Spain | Chancellor Olaf Scholz to meet President Pedro Sanchez in Madrid on October 5 and 6
On October 5 and 6, Chancellor Olaf Scholz will meet President Pedro Sanchez in Madrid. The meeting will discuss energy and the MidCat pipeline to bring gas from Spain to the rest of Europe.

On October 8, a CGIL demonstration will be held in Rome, Lazio. The rally will start at 2:30 pm in Piazza del Popolo.

On October 8-9, Trenord employees will strike in Lombardia. The strike will occur from 9:00 pm local time on October 8 until 9:00 pm local time on October 9.

Italy | Autoguidovie workers to strike in Lombardia on October 7
On October 7, Autoguidovie workers will strike in Lombardia. The strike was called by Osr Usb, Osr Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uilt-Uil and Ugl Autoferro. The strike will occur in the provinces of Milano, Pavia, Cremona, and Monza Brianza and it will last for the entire day.

On October 6-7, Mercitalia Rail staff will take 24-hour strike action across the country. The strike will begin at 9 pm local time on October 6.  The strike action is being taken to demand better working conditions.

Kyrgyzstan | Gas supply to be cut off from October 3 to 5, due to repair work, in parts of Bishkek
From October 3 to 5, the gas supply will reportedly be cut off in parts of Bishkek due to repair work on a gas pipeline. The affected areas will include Fuchik Street, BChK, 2nd Cherepki Street, and Zhibek Zholu Avenue.

Poland | Protest against increases in energy prices to be held in Warsaw, on October 7
On October 7, a protest will be held in Warsaw. Local government officials are staging a protest against the increase in energy prices and demanding the freezing of energy costs at the current rate. The demonstrations will be held in front of the Prime Minister’s office.

Spain | Demonstration to be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country on October 6
On October 6, a demonstration will be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country. The demonstration will be staged by LAB against the draft law on basque education. The demonstration will start at Plaza Bilbao at 12 pm local time and will finish in front of the Delegation of Education.

On October 8, a Julian Assange demonstration will take place in London. The demonstration will take place at Parliament Square and begin at 1 pm local time. It will involve participants attempting to form a human chain around parliament.

United Kingdom | 40,000 RMT members from Network and 15 rail operating companies to go on strike on October 8
On October 8, 40,000 RMT members from Network and 15 rail operating companies will go on strike. This is the 3rd rail strike announced in the space of 8 days.

United Kingdom | Animal Rebellion to protest in London, England on October 8
On October 8, Animal Rebellion will hold a protest in London, England. The protest will take place at Green Park at 12 pm local time.

United Kingdom | Section of A720 to close in Scotland from October 6 to October 11
On October 6-11, a section of the A720 will close for overnight works in Scotland. The road between Lothianburn and Straiton Junction, eastern direction, will close from 8:30 pm local time to 6 am local time. During the works, drivers will be redirected by the A702, B701, and A701. These roadworks can be canceled or postponed according to the weather.

From October 3, Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air will operate 2 weekly flights to and from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RKT). Ras Al Khaimah will become the third emirate to join the Bahraini airline network.

Iran | Transitional Management Council and other groups call for national strike on October 9
On October 9, the Transitional Management Council, along with other groups, has called for a national strike in support of the ongoing protests in Iran.

Israel – Palestinian territories | West Bank and Gaza Strip crossings to be closed from October 4-5
From October 4-5, the West Bank and Gaza Strip border crossings will be closed due to the High Holidays. According to Israeli security forces, humanitarian assistance will continue to be permitted even during the festive days. The decision on whether the crossings will remain closed on October 9-16 (Sukkot holiday) has not yet been announced.
