January 2025 – Hozint is proud to announce its participation in the AI4COPSEC project, a transformative Horizon Europe initiative aimed at enhancing EU security and maritime monitoring. The project officially launched with a kick-off meeting held in Oslo in December 2024, bringing together a distinguished consortium of ten partners from across Europe, including the Spanish Civil Guard and SatCen.

AI4COPSEC seeks to push the boundaries of innovation by integrating satellite imagery with thermal imaging, AIS data, drifters, and Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT). This fusion of heterogeneous data sources will enable the development of cutting-edge tools to tackle critical challenges such as search-and-rescue operations, maritime and border surveillance, and oil spill management.

Hozint will play a pivotal role in the project, contributing its expertise in OSINT and AI capabilities. By harnessing advanced AI techniques, including self-supervised machine learning and GeoAI models, Hozint will support the development of robust solutions for security practitioners and maritime stakeholders. These tools aim to improve situational awareness and response times, ensuring better management of incidents at sea.

Coordinated by Simula Research Laboratory and technically led by eOdyn, AI4COPSEC will run for 36 months, advancing the Copernicus Security Service through the integration of AI-driven technologies. The project is a crucial step forward in addressing pressing environmental and security challenges, reinforcing Europe’s ability to safeguard its maritime domain.
