On November 15, it has been reported that Islamic State militants are calling for attacks during the FIFA World Cup 2022. Attacks are being called for on the social messaging app Telegram, which is being used by IS members to send cryptic messages to each other.
Spanish media, including Marca and La Razon, have reportedly seen messages wherein IS supporters are planning on targeting members of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. The attacks appear to be aimed towards fans of national teams such as Canada, Belgium and France, among others.
